This material is characterised by its high mechanical strength and creep strength over a wide range of temperatures, very high wear resistance, and low friction. It features very good strength and impact strength and good dialectical properties. Additionally, it has outstanding resistance to gamma radiation. Vespel® is available in the following versions:

This type has very good physical properties including electrical and thermal insulation.
The unfilled type (SP1) with 15% added graphite = reduced wear and friction values.
SP22 has 40% added graphite = reduced wear and friction values, enhanced dimensional and shape stability, low thermal coefficient of linear expansion.
Addition: 15% graphite and 10% PTFE = minimal friction coefficient, lowest wear rate up to 150°C.
Addition: 15% MoS2 = for seals and bearings under vacuum or dry use conditions.
